"China, Hong Kong, Mongolia, Malaysia , Japan, Azores, Guam, Russia" 10-12 meters I think a guy on here said he made these contacts on. How many people have a ham radio and speak English in Mongolia?????!!!!!! :) :) :) :) :) :)

Latest census has that number at 19 domestic operators and my guess is that all of them speak English on some level. There are another 12 foreign operators that hold a Mongolian license.

English is spoken for most contacts.

You can and will hear many native languages being spoken South America into Spain etc etc

Most speak English but you will find that you have to be real slow and pronounce your words exactly for many foreign ops to understand.

Most will know enough to make a contact give an RS report and chew the rag a little, others will hesitate and try to think about what they want to pronounce.

It makes for some interesting contacts and is a lot of fun.

I was using my Swan 700CX on 20 meters and was working an Italian station, He started telling me a story about how his first radio was a WAN 250, I guess thee is no S in the Italian language but it was a very humorous QSO as he really liked His WAN 250 and how it drifted so much that he could carry on several QSO's at once cause his WAN never stayed on frequency.:D
