Kenwood MC-60A

Kenwood MC-60

I was perusing MC-60 threads in pursuit of an answer to a problem I'm having and ran across this discussion. First of all, since the Kenwood 440SAT I'm using already has a preamplifier, I never use the one on the MC-60. For that matter, I've don't keep batteries in it. I always get good reports. Although most of the time I prefer the stock mike, because I just kind of like to lean back in my office chair and talk, rather than be humped over a desk talking into the mike. That being said, here's the problem I'm having. About a year or so ago, I bought a new old stock MC-60 and one in excellent condition as a back-up. The problem with both of them, is that the Up Down buttons don't work, although the buttons on my stock mike do work. I've checked the wiring on both and they are configured correctly and there are no shorts are opens. Does anybody have any idea what the problem might be? THANKS!
