Can someone explain to a new user ( old age Aussie ) why I cant tune into my local airport frequency of 125.6 MHz, when my Kenwood R-1000 does not show point 6, only 0.125.

I don't have one of these so take this with a grain of salt but if I'm not mistaken an R-1000 only goes up to about 30 MHz, are you sure the display isn't showing kHz?

I believe Captain Killowatt has one of these, I'm sure he can give you all the ins and outs of that radio.

Yes indeed the R-1000 only covers as high as 30 MHz. It is a shortwave receiver and not a VHF receiver. The Icom 8500 will do everything the R-1000 will do and a whole lot more.
