LAFAYETTE DYNA COM 23 HELP!

darticus-

This model is in Sams # 41. Model Number is 99-32567L. Supply voltage is 15vdc. According to Sams, it uses eight Eveready 1015, E91, E9 (or equivalent) batteries. These are extra heavy-duty AAs (NOT nicads). Nice little walkie-talkie with lots of features. 73s

Really need the help!
I just got info that it takes 10 reg AA batteries with a spacer and 12 rechargables without the spacer. Do you have the sams #41 that says it takes 8 batteries? Hate to install the wrong amount of batteries and burn this out. Help is needed to try this radio. Can you email me some pages from sam #41 showing this battery info? Even if you email to ron222@embarqmail.com pics of the pages. Thanks Ron

10 Alkaline batterys would be 15 volts, each batt supplys 1.5
Ni cads only measure out at about 1.2 to 1.3 volts, that is just the way they are, so if it has 2 dummy spacers that would account for using the spacers for alkaline battery's and then talking them out for Ni-Cads because the voltage is lower..
I could see it running off of 15 volts "maybe" because AA`s pull down on transmit, but 18 is just too much voltage.
12 volt is the Norm for these radios
Question.
Is there a plug in on the side of the radio to run it off of a DC power cord?
Take a look, often it will show the polarity of the plug and say 12 volt, or 13.6 or something.

Thanks all
Hope this covers all of you.
Ebay people Betty woun't share the manual it seems.
The other person don't have the manual and not sure of battery placement.
Doesn't seem to be the 12v the one site says.
latest is Sams Photofacts #41 info needed
TELL ME What is said in #41 about batteries needed to run a lafayette dyna com 23 CB radio. Can someone put a pic of pages saying battery install info. Radio is strange. LOOKS LIKE IT TAKES 12 BATTERIES BUT THEY ARE A BIT TOO TIGHT to fit . Some say it take 10 reg aa batteries with spacers and 12 recharables without spaces. Some say it takes 8 batteries. What the deal on this radio. Can't even find the right manual anywhere. See radio pics
Side of radio has a place for charger plug and a spot for power plug but no voltage stated. Manual would be cool or someone said sams #41 covers it. Thanks Ron

any chance of an error here, or is my thinking wrong...

8 batteries x 1.5volts=12 volts supply voltage, when sams says it needs 15 volts.

seems that it should take 12 batteries, but 12x1.5=18 volts

best of luck, doesn't seem like anyone here remembers those radios.

Most reliable info is 10 reg AA batteries and a spacer to fill two spots. Than use 12 batteries rechargable which are 1.2 v. Ron

That radio is very old, that is why it is hard to find a user manual for it.Sams Photofacts cost about $15 bucks each.
Kens Electronics has the one you are looking for for $12.95 US.
Not a lot of guys here have a complete set...or any for that matter.
http://www.kenselectronics.com/lists/sams.htm

BUT often they show Schematic and service Data for the radios, not the user manual, and As 399 said it May just say 12 volt supply.
Most often these radios run on 12 volt, so an external power cord would run off of the lighter plug in a car.
Yes 8 battery's would be 12 volts, but if the people that built it only supply one spacer, and the battery compartment uses 12 battery's, it stand to reason that the spacer ( that is the length of 2 battery's ) takes the place of two of them and the rest are.... battery's.
I know you are excited to get on the air, but just give it a day or two and see if someone comes in that knows that talkie.
the other option is to stuff 10 AA`s in it and the spacer....and talk on it.
Your choice.
