Lincoln II+ Review

This isn't a new radio, it's the 4th version in about 3 years trying to work the bugs out.

Stay tuned for version 4+...

How many of these joker radios are you going to go through before you wise up and buy a real radio?
I and not buying the Quad 5 radio, I requested that the dealer send me one in exchange for the defective Lincoln.

if you'd like to spot me $140 I will get a real HF radio (Alinco DX-SRT8.)

I'd bet money nothing is wrong with that radio - as mentioned previously your antenna setups sound suspect. I'd find a local with an antenna analyzer to have a look at things. Plenty of people I knew thought their setup was fine - their mechanical SWR meter on their export radio said it was fine and then when I put the analyzer on it they learned a whole lot more about their setup.

While using the radio in the truck on a good known CB antenna the SWR protection circuit still did not kick in when set accordingly to fail. When also following my dealer and President instructions the SWR protection circuit still did not work properly following their test requests.

To further that along I installed a whole new 'normal' CB antenna system at the house with swr's of 1.1 on 1 to 1.4 on 40 with external meter. Channel 20 is at 1.2.

Note: After doing research on other manufacturers that use a similar board they're SWR protection circuit is set for 20 to 1 before it kicks in. Like Stryker 955, Anytone 6666, etc.. I'm thinking President fine tuned it to be selectable by user, but when it breaks reverts back to that same 20-1 before kicking in.. Again my guess on that..

If you don't turn the SWR protection off or set it high it has a tendency to kick in all by itself ....All these radios the same. Turn it off and rely on a proper meter to check the antenna.

While true, the matter is the unit doesn't work properly.

Now that I'm squared away on new antenna and using external meter.

The new incoming radio will be utilized with built-in swr reading and external swr meter as well for a more proper setup.

I love my V3, but as I discussed before I went with the Optima MK3 because the Lincoln 2 doesn't reject static that well. How is the static rejection on the Plus?
