My Rigrunner has two 4 Amp combined USB ports. I had my phone plugged in and it got hot. Hot enough I couldn't hold it.

I’ve avoided the USB-equipped models from my searches. Any brand. While it seems “convenient”, I can’t really see the utility.

At first, it seemed good. As a truck driver I’ve several pieces of equipment — which are business tools — to keep charged. As power cabling is well beyond requirement, this seemed good.

The idea of noise or feedback was enough to exnay that. (I otherwise use a multi-plug 12V cigar lighter device for those). I can disengage that to check noise and 3-4 items are instantly OFF.

I’d ask West Mountain Radio. I like the product quality and my single (unneeded) return for service gave me the warm fuzzies.

I am going to write them about it. It shouldn't have got that hot with a 4 amp rating. Also, that might be why the dude sold it to me. I bought it at the Shriner's Hamfest last August. Just got around to using. It runs fine with my 12 volt stuff, but blistering hot on USB side.
