Hi all, I am looking for a 40 channel SSB/AM base station such as:

a) GE Superbase (first choice)
b) SBE LCBS-8
c) SBE Console V
d) Royce 1-642
or similar.

Must be working as it should and in Excellent shape, NON smoker. Please advise what you have, all that comes with it, and Best price shipped, paying with Paypal.

Thanks,

I’ve been looking at this one on ebay. Have decided to pass and hold out for my dream radio—a Golden Eagle Mark III in great condition.
I’ve heard the Cobra 139’s are good radios.

Riverman,
That 139 on e-Bay is a 23 channel radio despite what the description says. The 40 channel version is a 139XLR-and they are great radios!
Hope you find your Mark III. I have had several over the years and wished I would have kept one to put on a shelf!

Ah! I missed that. That would have been a rude awakening upon receipt.

I don’t think I’m going to find my Browning on ebay. Craigslist maybe.
Or a fellow member who feels sorry for an old guy trying to fulfill a dream.

Thanks!
Jim

Hi, I've had the Cobra 139XLR and it's a good radio but I want something a little better/different. Thanks, Adam

Adam , I know you said a base , but I paid more than $299 for my modded Cobra 2k quite a few years back . Big radio's are a matter of preference ( I like them also ) Just be careful on EBay , I'm sure you know that . Ever think of the Anytone At-6666 ? I know it's small but has a lot of bang for the $ , 11m @ the push of a button . A few on here have them , like S&W 357 . Just my 2 cents .:) 73 & God Bless , Leo

a) GE Superbase (first choice)
from a repair and maintenance point of view, a nightmare
b) SBE LCBS-8
from a repair and maintenance point of view, same nightmare in a different case
d) Royce 1-642
If you speak Royce that's fine.

all will need re-cap

c) SBE Console V

my choice because, well, because...

Golden Eagle Mark III. Nightmare or fairly easy to restore?

Thanks.

Used to run oilfield loads to Chickasha, OK from grinding mills on the Gulf Coast. In that area (as we cut across from IH-35) were some fantastic sounding base stations. All Browning’s. (did this 2012-2014).

Somewhere on this site, IIRC, is a mention of someone who’s a Browning guru. May have been that Big Daddy and his progeny in OK.

I recall some buy/sell/trade deals being arranged in person.

Be easy drive for you as Chickasha is on IH-44.

Maybe the guru will chime in. (y)
