looking for a desk top mic

im thinking the turner would do me right
To be honest I don't know. I always used hand mikes on everything.
I also have one that is retro looking it is an astatic and looks something like this.

If you’re on a budget, try an old school Shure 444 off Ebay. It’s been a tried and proven winner for years. Many hams still prefer them on their rigs like the TS-120S. The Kenwood MC-60A is another popular mic that has a built in preamp (on or off). The preamp is not adjustable, but will add a little audio boost when turned on.

I went the xlr route for ease of future upgrades. I got a used heil boom off ebay, a behringer xm8500 and a heil cable for a little over $100. I wasn't sure about the boom, but it is so much better than a desk mic. I'm still evaluating the mic, but for $20 it is pretty amazing so far. "Professionals" claim it is very similar in performance to the Shure sm58.

Are you wanting a ppt on the base, a hand/foot switch, or vox?

looking for a ptt for now dont really have the room for a boom setup

Funny how different we can be. I only went with a boom because of space constraints.

I would definitely go with some sort of a dynamic cardioid mic. Aside from that, its hard to guess what would be good for you, your voice, and your usage.
