Looking for help

Loose cannon, somehow I missed thanking you for your post. I do apreciate it, I understand how transformers work I am just trying to piece together all they do in AM amplifiers.

So far I have identified theese roles.

Voltage transformation (obviously)
Isolation from free radical RF (very untechnical term)
Impedence matching
Frequency (bandwidth) matching

I don't believe that broadband transformers are the best aproach to each one of theese, but they definatly get the job done.
If I have missed a role or anything else, please chime in and straighten me out.

Weight!
The transformers made up of laminated plates, gobs of wire, and big housings weigh more than those itty-bitty graphite thingys. Everybody knows that if it weighs more than you can pick up, it's gotta be better!
