I have a couple of vintage tube CB radio's here that I've talked about here on the forum before . They both have their stock mics , but I was wondering what mics would be the best to wire up , and use with them ? One is my Lafayette Comstat 23 , and the other one is my Kris 23 + . I know they both use the same wiring code , I was just wondering what mics are the best match up for these 2 radios . :)

Back in the day that those two rigs were commonly used, The Turner line of mics were extremely popular. The Turner Plus 2 was very popular for a base mic and the Turner M+2/U was popular for mobile rigs. The Turner Plus 3 mobile mic was also popular after the M+2. If you are not so interested in "period correct" mics then a more recent design would give you many more choices.
Unless you are going to use them a lot I would just use the stock mics for the sake of originality and not spend a bunch of money on mics that won't be in regular use. I watch for mics like the Turner mics at swapmeets where MAYBE I can get one in decent condition for not a lot of money. Usually they are pretty beat. The cables are most often stretched out, unwound in places and extremely dirty.

You know Shadetree, if you squeezed that scanner and Stryker a little closer together, you could add about 4 more mobile radios in that space! Just sayin'.

Nice set up!!

I thought my amplified Gray Base would be a nice match up ... but when I put it on my tube radios , I was told that it sounded "Tinny". I mean "Maybe" the mic element in the mic is bad , but it sounded ok to me when it was on my Pearce Simpson Bengal.
