Hello All

Just asking here on this forum if anybody has or used this beam. If it works good and what the average height it should be to work good.

I am new to this beam I just purchased it and I am wondering if anybody has better instructions then the ones that its comes with. I have the hortizonal elements on but I don't get how the vertical elements are to be the same distance apart when the boom section is 11'7" and it states that the driven element is 7'3" from the reflector and director is 4'1"from the driven element. And the black and red caps take a inch from both sides.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Mount the reflector 1" from the end of the boom.

Measure 7' 3" and mount the driven elements (7' 4" from reflector end)

Measure 4' 1" from the driven elements and mount the directors. (11' 5" from reflector end).

This leaves you 2" of boom left.

I'd split the 3" of boom left and mount the reflector 1.5" from the end. This leaves the director 1.5" from the other end. Simple.

Is there a better way to build this beam, YEP! But go with the instructions and it will work just fine.

Radioman,
The 'other' part was covered so the answer to how high to mount the antenna is... as high as you can reasonably get it. What's 'reasonable'? Whatever you can afford. Higher is better than lower. If you 'clothes-line' yourself on it, it's too low. If you have to get permission from your department of transportation(aircraft obstruction), it's too high. Anything in between will work fine.

Hello

I just measured the height of the main boom of the beam it will be at 40 feet. What do ya think.

I wonder if I could stretch a 103hv and make a custom m104hv with my m103c I have laying around...wondering what the spacing should be, or if I should just follow instructions on spacing and element length for an m104? Hmmmm, considering on getting a 103hv to do this

Welcome to the forum,
YES you can, search for maco 104 manual and build your four element as per instructions will work fine.

So more less the spacing and length needed for the vertical and horizontal elements should be the same as if I was just going to use the m104c instructions? I see they dont make a 4 element HV version, and like I said was going to purchase a 103hv and use elements from my 103c and boom, and figured use the spacing and element length given for a m104c. Thank you for your response waverider, 73
