Need HELP ASAP!! My antenna is down and I can't get it back up until I figure this out. I need to know the correct length for the wire that connects the SO-239 to the Hoop. Also, wouldn't it be better to use #14 Silver Teflon wire since it can take the watt's? This wire is used on amp output transformer's and it take's a lot of heat. Thanks for your help guy's!!

I don't have this antenna, but I think the ring radius is about 6" inches, so a wire a tad longer than that should reach with room to move about for your tune. IMO this length is taken care of by tuning and the length is probably not a specific length as long as it will reach.

Within reason, any wire will do. Pick what you think will hold up and do the job.

Marconi, thanks for the input. I didn't know if it needed to be an odd # for the length or a specific length, etc. Thanks Again.

the wire you can upgrade to whatever ya want. bigger the better . far as lenth measure
the one that came with antenna and make it that exact lenth. if you dont have that
then just one long enough to go from the ring to the so239 .. not an inch more

Looks like these guys got you covered & I don’t think it is all “too” critical as long as it reaches the hoop ok. But for future reference I guess since I have my Maco V5/8 5000 sitting in the other room in its original box I would measure it. My antenna was bought back in like 2001 if I recall, so not sure if they made changes to the wire since then. Mine is not in the greatest shape, but the wire is original.

It appears to be 14 gauge stranded wire. The wire itself measures “about” 8.75”, then the ring terminal adds to that slightly. Here are a couple pics.

Thanks guy's! I really appreciate you taking time to help me out. Also, thanks a lot Pioneer621. You had just what I hoped someone would have. The actual wire itself. I appreciate the photo's, too. Now, I can rest easy knowing that it's exactly the way it should be. Thanks Again, Guy's!!
