Have a s45hp sittin on the desk bout 2 months, no probs up till now. Out of the blue, turned it on yesterday, wham, LSB has 70w carrier (no swing), USB has 10w carrier,(swings to 70w) AM and FM Carriers are normal 16w (swings to 70w). Changed mics, coax. pushed around on the board no change. Any ideas or trustworthy repair near alabama?

I called Mountain View Electronics in TN and the dude seemed knowledgable and helpful over the phone. They supposedly do warranty work for Magnum. I got this info from one of the many Magnum threads on this forum.

Yea time for a repair. Any carrier on SSB is a problem.

I had one that would do weird stuff from time to time. I did the CPU reset and it was correct after that, not sure why but it worked for me.

Hey morseguy, its been working fine for a year, then not turned on for 2-3months then, WHAM SSb carrier. The carrier balance is no longer an adjustable pot, RV107 looks like 2 resistors, or small caps, idk. Anyone know what the (VALUES) should read on RV107?

I sent my radio back to Ricks electronics he replaced a resistor in the carrier balance section. he said it was a temperature sensitive resistor

Mine will work fine when cold (when it hasn't been turned on for a few days) but a few minutes after on and keying, or switching modes (from lsb to usb, etc) the carrier shows up.

And thanks, 440, I'll see if I can figure it out.
