my buddie wants to swap his s9 for my emperor and i want to know what you guys think of the s9, i have not seen it yet but looking at the pics on cbtricks they look cheap made with bits tacked on here an there plus the usual bodged diodes not in contact with the transistors instead of mv1y or similar thermal tracking diodes, i mainly use fm and ssb with some am when i get conditions to work the usa, if i decided to swap him would i be making a mistake, i unlocked the clarifier on my emperor and did a full alignment, it works perfect and has never had a soldering poker in it from new, your thoughts on the s9 would be appreciated.....

Ive never been around an emperor but I wouldnt hesitate on buying another S-9 as long as it isnt all hacked up. Mine is tuned by Justin and it blows smoke

Justin tuned your S-9 huh ?

How's that Top Gun modulator working now ????

Oh wait....Justin probebly forgot to tell you he steals them out of customers radios and does not tell them....Guess thats just part of his " high performance "

The top gun is a hoax. Ill put my S-9 up against anyone elses. Choose your man to tune it and we will talk. I would have NO problem sending another one to Justin. It'll swing 45 on my meter.....Better than it did before with the topgun.

Glad it worked out for you.

If you really want a show down of radios, take your S9 to someone with a Bird 43 on a 50 watt slug and see how many average watts your doing ??? :guitar

I don't want to have to hurt your feelings with a single final radio !!!! :moon :lol

I'm glad you could chime in thief boy....

Just keep convincing people that your over-inflated peak readings are what matters, and keep on steeling parts from customers radio's and re-selling them.

We'll see which radio will be heard on the Superbowl.

anyway,back to the subject,eh boys??
the emperor shogun is the same chassis(basically)as the lincoln/2510,and I'd take that over a stupid round metered cheap componented clone anyday.
just my opinion,you understand!!

I am sure your radio sounds great there frmboybuck. I about fell out of my chair in laughter though when I saw your post, your radio is all hacked up. What was done to your radio is the exact definition of hacked up. Like I said before, Justin is a good tech and does good work, but if you send him a Magnum radio your wasting your money. You might as well have sent him a Galaxy or Connex because the two main selling features of the Magnum S9 are no longer in your radio.

Hey small tire, do you really think I'm that bad off that I would want to sell parts? LMAO You must be one of the CBR forum idiots.

Yes I do...

Check out http://www.ripoffreport.com/reports/ripoff100635.htm

UHHOHH Justin on our wanna-be tech hero on Rip Off Report.com ?????!!!!!!

I know how you operate from personal experience....After all my radio was the S-3 that you hacked up so bad, that if you turned down the carrier under 10 watts it sounded horiable. I took it to FG Best in person and told you it would be used to drive an amplifier. I paid you $ 80.00 to steal my Top Gun modulator, make the radio sound un-audiable with a low carrier, and then not return my phone calls when I was un-happy.

That fine though, I'll be traveling to CA again and your easy to find

I agree with you bob85, the magnum line of radios touting the top gun board are in my opinion snake oil installed to fool a peak reading meter with harmonics and the guy who designs them should be ashamed for selling them.

They are poorly constructed with some of the lowest grade parts available, as I have sent in a couple and they came back with what their recommend service technician refers to as upgrades and are really no better than the original parts(ie) pots.

They have pll issues that go unresolved , so I give the magnum s-9 and s-3 a big thumbs down.

OK,

I am by far not a "tech" or a radio "Guru" BUT I have bought and used (still own both  :) ) two radios that constantly get "Bashed"..Whats up with this :?: :?:
I do not care what you purchase, small ticket($1-$500) or big ticket ($1000-$100'000) quality needs to be backed up with service and good answers not this constant BULL SH*!

My 1st "big radio" was a SS3900 GHP (with the EEI tune :P ) and it still gives me great service (yes it was reworked by a "Local Tech") but will talk with all of the "locals" w/the $400-$500 "TOYS"

My 2nd radio is the Magnum S-3 (from the Quack Shack,Larryized  :D ) and this "lil" thing does everything it is suppossed to and the best part 8) the "Galaxy boys" can not believe I spent 1/2 the $$$ and "STEP" all over them..QUACK QUACK QUACK..

Last thing and then out goes the "soap box".......(and no I have not sent something to him)......swinging at Justin,is like swinging at Kale,Coily or AMpowa....those who like 'em will follow them 4- eva and those that don't  :x  ..

Snoope back quiet

hi there,mate
keep the shogun!....think about it,you got a solid made radio, that does everything you ask of it,without a hitch........true?
what is there to think about.
just my 2 cents,as they say
later.
