maxlog M8900

Someone needs to record the differences on SSB to see if it helps anywhat. My gut feeling is that without a knob it is not going to help a great deal because you normally need to roll it a bit one way for USB and the other way for LSB.
Be a pain to have to go into the menu each time...but if you live on 38 lower it might not be that much of a problem.
Diff computer diff name..sorry.

Well guess what?
The PBT works.
It gets rid of all the white noise..well 90% of it.
Still playing with it but it is quite surprising. Totally unexpected.
Changes the audio positively on receive.
Unfortunately I do have a prototype and it changes both RX and TX.
Which is not good.
All new radios sold have the ability to change either RX or TX and I suggest you leave the TX well alone for now and change the RX pbt from the 1000 it comes as standard to somewhere around 3000.
Still need to check it fully on the lower side...
The effect seems to be the same on both sidebands...
I have settled on 2400 and will try to take a recording and video to shoe the effect but CB Magazine can do it so much better!!!

The downside..The TX sounded like crap at those settings and a small carrier was being injected into the signal but the current M8900 do not share the control so set the SSB RX audio how you like it!

VK Rules, I goofed. The Dual PBT have not shipped from factory yet.
The current models are the same as I have.
The Yeticomnz stock will incorporate several other changes which are taking extra time. Namely the bands will be 1mhz, clarifier will have a 5khz step option and the dual acting PBT.
Apologies. I thought the Dual PBT was already released.

So a guy would be better off waiting for whatever version is coming down the pike? Your selling prototypes now? Later shipments will have Tx/Rx PBT and a bigger heat sink?

I think the factory needs to find some better beta testers. Get these money pits half way straightened out before Joe Schmo wastes his money.

Got to test them to find out what's needed Duster. Not all the manufacturers want to listen and change things. Most don't. It takes time and a few people using the radio to really come to grips with how they work in real life. Each location and antenna setup is different. The manufacturer seldom gets it right first rattle out of the box. Not just radios.
Changes take time as fixing one problem often causes another.
Only by getting a few out the door can you find out where all the flaws are.
Microsoft does it all the time.

The last version before they change the model is always the best of just about everything .Simon and some of the Europeans got their prototypes last year or early this year, hopefully there wont be to many bugs.I like maxlogs slightly different take on things with their radios ( might have Dave to thank for some of that). Dave is having the radios customised at the factory as of next shipment. The ones on EBAY are factory standard.I can't comment any further until I have mine in my hands . I'm like everybody else, I pay my money and take my chances.
