meanwhile out in the garage ...

Ain’t that an interesting garage, all kinds of “stuff” out there to pillage and plunder through.

Road trip anyone?
Nothing like good old fashioned American ingenuity. You look at what you have and see what it needs. Even if you never done it before. Here's to making it work one way or another. I'm buying the first round.

The new shaft is .671" , the old one is of course larger.
I had to do a bit of repair on my Lathe (Atlas Clausing , Sears Craftsman , 10100)
Then turn down the shank on two drill bits. (1/4" chuck)
Then come at the "bushing" from both ends with a ground and modified 1/4" tool holder. I didn't have the shiznit for a boring bar that small.
Fighting tool post flex all morning I finally got a setup that worked.
Rebuilding brother's lathe.

So Randy, 999, and I are going to tell you all a story.
I posted "wanted HTX-100, 2510, 2600 , chassis parts"
A deal was struck and Randy sends it all off within a few hours.
The covers I received had a cut out for a side mic. Oops.
The email from randy confirmed it.
So he sends out the correct covers and I temporarily loose either my mind or the incorrect covers, or both.
Yesterday I find the covers in my roommate's hands as he says " these aren't the right covers..."
I sent the covers to work with her and hope to get them returned before the weekend.

So many thanks to Randy for the deal on the chassis and many pics to follow from that.

Regrets to Randy because he got tangled in my BS trying to get the covers back.

If it happened to someone else it would be a little more humorous.

Usable face area is 2 1/8" x 7" . Now to play Tetris with the TFT screen , main tuning, volume, agc, self destruct...

I gain a little bit of depth and loose it to the display.
I get a heatsink with undrilled bosses for sub 1U fans.
Complete the RF enclosure. (it s copper...)

Now the project forks in three directions.
Complete the face
Play Tetris with the heatsink
Adapt the side rails to the main board

and so it goes

Plenty of room for the DC/DC perverter, NXP because life is too short for QRP, and what ever else I decide to stuff in the now unused computer tray .
So far it's been easy. Now to breadboard the uBitx and actually get it running.
This is where the real work starts. I'll be on to other things briefly (that possessed by Beelzebub IC-735 for one) and I'll get back to this as soon as I wipe out a long list of over due ...

So what's taking you so long get with it!!!
The above mentioned 735 with a "personality"
A Siltronics 1011 I've had for over 2 years.
A trio of Uniden Tempo 2020's
A recent charity case TS-120S
The Dodge Colt is still leaking
The Nissan Cube and 4772 pages of disinformation
Three major antenna projects while I have weather.
Endless trips to the local VA for "warranty work" I wish they'd just get it right.
Dogs , cats , kids, roommate, the dollar to euro exchange rate and I'd really like to spend some time with my girl ...
