Anyone of a "certain age" will remember the late 70s Eimac magazine ad showing a toddler standing next to this tube, almost tall enough to reach the top of the thing.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/EIMAC-X-21...114394?hash=item25d8faf15a:g:ndIAAOSwcj5ZQgK5

The tube's filament alone draws over 10 kilowatts and has its own mini-water jacket separate from the pipe fittings on the anode.

Still wrapping my mind around a power supply delivering 20,000 Volts at 45 Amps.

Gotta figure the rebuild cost on this tube is kinda steep.

So here's a detail on this tube I had never caught before. Musta never looked closely at the data sheet.

First tube I remember seeing with its own vacuum pump.

One for the RF final, two for the modulator in push-pull.

Bear in mind the modulation transformer will look like the parking-lot walk-in freezer behind the pizza hut.

Never mind what the power transformer will need to be.

A filament transformer for just one of these will be ginormous.

Visited the VOA museum between Dayton and Cincy. Got some pics of stuff from the retired 200,000-Watt transmitter. Gotta post some of those.

Nope.

You’re going to need a REALLY great friend in the US Navy to fetch home serious turbine power for mobile use.

Fuel burn could be a problem, though. 3k gallons/diesel won’t last long (assuming 10k for powerplant and necessary).

BUT the world of OVERDIMENSION freight offers all sorts of possibilities.

Let’s send along a mobile crane and support vehicles to erect that 200’ mast.

Wow impressive tube and power levels, great for mobile use, but not enough steam for base use.
