Meter question

no im not messing with no one here,as the old alignment on the 148gtl says to adjust meter so that it agrees with the watt meter and the new alignment says adjust it between red and green lines.

One thing for sure , I agree about the " Dosey's " I have 3 they all read different . You figure I would have learned after 2 ( They were free ) but I made the mistake of purchasing the third ( a test station ) . Some us are gluten's
for punishment !lol

i was given a dosy 4001 the only good it was with me was the antenna switch,,,, the measurment part of it was so off and not consitstant i ended up selling it and the cber that got it was talking all night how his radio was a big talker now that he really seen what his wattage was on his new dosy,,,,

I have two 148gtls they both read 3 watts on the dosy.

Knowing exactly how many watts you're putting out isn't as important as some people think it is.

When running an amp I always payed more attention to what the amp was putting out, the drive the radio was supplying to achieve that output didn't concern me as much (as long as the radio wasn't pushed beyond its limits of course). And even then as long as you're running it with a reasonable amount of headroom a meter that's close enough is usually close enough.

No watt meter for CB or ham use is going to be 100% accurate, as an operator you need to know this and run your stuff in a way that gives you an appropriate margin of error given the capabilities of your monitoring equipment. The extra wattage that you would gain by shrinking that margin with better meters probably won't be heard at the other end.

Of course if you like to run your stuff at the edge knowing exactly what's going on gets much more important, as with many things in this hobby it's all about how you run the equipment you have.
