Does anyone know of one that work really well in stripping the insulation on the small wires in the cord?
I just did a bunch with the ones with the screw and nut that you adjust to set the wire size, but it was hit or miss.

Wire strippers for wire that small are really hard to come by. this is where it pays to be good with sharp diagonal cutters or a knife. I use diagonal cutters almost all the time unless I have wire strippers handy.

Thanks, I messed around with them for about an hour and found the best way is to squeeze lightly and finish the cut with an exacto knife. You would think someone would have come up with something.

Teeth...stripping wire for decades.

I can't stand doing that. The wire against the teeth gives me the creeps. They do make really small dies for wire cutters with interchangeable jaws but those are professional series and expensive generally. If I had a dollar for every wire I stripped with diagonal wire cutters I would be a very rich man. That's generally all I ever used when doing circuit board work. I did use regular strippers when running the inter-studio wiring as that was THOUSANDS of solder connections to do.

I have seen people do it with scissors also, but like CK said you gotta have the right touch.

I'm with CK ,but my weapon of choice is the flush cutter.Of course if you are just doing one gauge of wire the strippers with the correct dies are best.Hate using teeth on thin gauges, it stretches the insulation and then when you go to solder the insulation shrinks back.

Thanks for all the help, I guess I just have two left thumbs. I am going to practice with the heat and my exatco knife.
