Mirage 36hp3

Other than showing less peak power than the previous model it seems to receive like it should. Really what sparked my interest was that clipped resistor in a place (j4) where there was once a jumper. I didn't think I'd find that many differences once I had them side by side.

ranger makes boards that get fit into many different radios.

just because the two radios you mentioned don't have a tone control doesn't mean that ranger didn't design the board to be able to be used with a radio that did have one.

for example, i used the schematic for the DX939 to find out what J4 was for, even though that board number is different, it's basically the same in many respects.

Mr Loosecannon, I had time to look at it some more today and what do ya know, the resistor soldered back together does away with the high pitch hiss in TX so definitely changes tone. On the air it's actually more pleasant on the ears as to why they decided to stick it in place of the jumper then clipping it I'm puzzled. I received 3 of them and all are just the same.

Just for giggles I swapped out the 7 turn coil with a 4 turn and made not a bit of difference. I didn't have a 180pF to replace C203 along with the coil so I put it back as it came. I'm guessing any real difference would have been in that capacitor change.

I am in need of help....i had a mx36hp loved it. When it died i ordered a mx 36hp3 from bell's with the recieve upgrade. Thing is i can't hear shit. My stock cobra hears better and the talkback is almost non existent. I opened the case, on the trace side along the left side(upside down) the us some black crystaly stuff that covers the solder joint, is that a problem? Is there a pot to turn up talkback...i really need help thanks.
