I have had both tested with a relatively short distance base station that was probably about 10 miles away in a straight line and the only difference that was noticed on my end was the skipshooter seem to be a little quieter but not dropping receive carrier. Both had the exact same DK carrier and talking carrier. Again, not very far away.

What would your reason be for the Skipshooter over the Predator?

Narrower bandwidth and higher Q = less noise and better receive.

Thats exactly what I was looking for. Thank you. I have read about coil Q but not very good at figuring that stuff out from what I read on how to do it and as I read most companies do not post their Q because everything else advertised for selling sounds better. I like the predator, but I like better an antenna that is better when they all are just really substitutes. I use my SS Whip stationary shooting skip. With that being said, I also shoot with the others LOL and nothing for nothing when I talked to other countries it was with the Predator 27in Shaft that I was usuing, although doesn't mean much when I didn't have the whip or the skipshooter with me at that time.

Same with both my antennas skip talked all over the world literally, Puerto Rico, Mexico, UK, Canada, Brazil, all over the country.

Yes but while mother nature is doing its thing, different antennas also do their thing.

Sorry none of the above , cost me about $100 but I went w/ a Stryker SRA-10A , must say it impresses me daily ! imo

is that the trucker antenna or magnetic mount?

Personally, I like the look of the 5' Skipshooter best. And the quieter receive.

Highway , Mag mount , out of the box , dropped whip in ..... Perfect & it crashes ! First contact on 28am through the BS running & old 140gtl , Turner + 2 ( old ) & my OLD KIng Bee 250 . Always had a hard time w/ Dx on 28 w/ my old Crappy RS antenna . No more !

great report 357, it does appear to be better made than the current Wilson 5000 mag from the reports that are out there.

imho- id try both being thery mount the same way..i think between these 2 id use the skipshooter..if the skipshooter wont handle the output ya wanting to use then the 10k.
i too would like to thank the user who put on here about the higher Q = quieter recieve. cause imo if ya cant hear them ya cant talk to them.

Highway , The way it's built sold me ! It looks impressive ! Will it last ? I guess time will tell but for now I'm glad I bought it . I think the new models light up Blue on transmit . We all have our opinions on antennas , myself I like this one .

Yes me as well. None of the main antennas say their Q. I wasn't sure if the Skipshooter was quieter because the wire is covered with plastic and the predator is all metal or because it was just better.
