Mobile Antenna ??

AL567 and others are correct, if possible, hard mounting is a better option, but a good mag mount setup that is maintained properly will work good too. Just have to keep an eye on things a bit more with the mag mount. JMO. I wish I could hard mount my antenna on my work truck but the job won't allow it. For what I have, the mag mount works well. I know a hard mount would be a better option but is one I don't have currently.

I have no problems drilling holes in any vehicle. I've had non radio dudes ask what the plugged area on the roof is when selling my cars. I never had anyone refuse to buy or ask a lower price because of it.

I left the base of my Wilson 1000 on my Jeep XJ when I sold it last fall. I left the weather cap on it. The old guy just asked what it was and continued looking over the vehicle once I told him. He paid my asking price. I just make sure it's not gonna leak.

Looking for a good Magnetic mount CB antenna for Tahoe. Whats your thinking on K40 vs MaxRad 2700 NMO ? Nothing to expensive here for casual use with just a HOT Cobra 25, no heat.

Really wish I'd taken photos of my last car. It had a magmount on for just over a year and you could see the grooves worn in the paint by the coax.

I use good sticky backs and have my coax off the truck all the way into the side door I know what you mean though. Having a mag mount requires some maintaining of the magnet and coax and various other things that will occur, like water or condensation. I 110% agree a hard mount is the BEST option, but not everyone has this as an option or just don't want to drill a hole. I have an old Breedlove brass mount that I would LOVE to mount up to my work van but the it's not my truck to do so with. I have spent a lot of time and money getting a mag mount system that will perform the way I want. I even went as far as taking a brand new antenna apart and sanding all the connection points to uncoated metal and also made sure every screw or bolt head was tight. I also changed out the stock coax to lmr240. These are just a couple in the long list of crap I went through to get my antenna system setup the way I wanted. If a hard mount was in the equation I would have been set and never would have had to buy anything as I already had a good setup from an old vehicle. But I work a lot and travel while doing so, so having a decent mobile setup was what I tried to accomplish without drilling!!

Thanks guy's for all the response. All good advise, I found a great K40 and a Wilson 500 both with goos coax in a yard sale for $5 each. I know the Wilson is a little older, but that's sometimes a good thing. I know either will work fine for me and what I will do with it. My Taho is always garaged and will keep an eye on the paint. Hope all of you have a good 4th, 3's to all of you,

Sounds like you found what you were looking for X 2. At $5 per antenna, you can't go wrong.

Enjoy your newest toys.
