Mobile Base Station setup help.

If you touch the radio and the noise goes down, then it might help to drive a ground rod beside the house and run a big ground wire inside to the radio. There might be more to it than that, but that's what it makes me think of.
Yeah thats one of the things I am hoping to not have to do. If I have to I'll get a car battery and a maint./charger, because it ran perfect on the battery LOL.

If it's a power supply issue I would suggest getting a quality supply as suggested above. An acid battery in the house is a dangerous game my friend. Vented gas can become flammable, an inhalation hazard and Lord forbid a battery explosion and so on. A regular acid battery just isn't very safe in the house. Just thought that's worth mentioning

Yeah, that was just a joke, hence the LOL at the end. Thank you though. I know about all that. I mentioned it because when I brought the battery in to check the PS here in my room it reminded me of a guy on a FB radio page few years back proudly posting his trickle charge car battery setup in his "radio" room that was a little bigger than a closet. He did get hundreds of replies LOL. Thanks again, thoughts do count.

I second that. Very dangerous.

OK so friend came over with his 25 amp real power supply and everything went to normal. Noise level quiet as it should be. Receive is great and getting out better then I thought. Going to be returning this piece of junk PS and purchasing a real power supply now LOL. Thanks for all the help.

All’s well that ends well.

PHEW! LOL! Worried there for a little bit. Really working as it should now. Just using a stock Galaxy DX979 with a schottky receive diode in it tuned and aligned. Not to many on around me but S4~5 10 miles away at friends base and already got out about 25 miles today. Might do the outside ground one day, but first time base here and waiting to see how it goes a bit. Mostly run mobile as when I get a base I get carried away and have issues in the city here LOL. Run a 955 with a Carl Built 400HD on LMR400UF out to a Predator 10K K-1-17 on the roof of my jeep normally. Thanks again.

My first base is coming. After a couple of mobile installs get “finished” (stopped at some point).

I read ya on the feeling of hand into lit stove burner.

The vehicle antennas look great. I usually try to get some conversation going when something that nice passes me on the road.

Of thousands of vehicles, of hundreds of CBs in private cars maybe 2-3 every year are that nice.

Thank you. Taught by friends help over the years and places like here. I actually bought the jeep because first I like jeeps even though not a real jeep inside its Chrysler crap but its the year before they added all the computer crap. I mainly bought it because of the roof. Never had a roof mount before. Had a trunk mount on a Grand Marquis. Got the Jeep, a breedlove puck mount, drilled the hole and ran the coax and everything else, correctly. Gave it a tune and the rest is history LOL. 2 jumpers at the correct lengths of LMR400UF. Flat SWR 1 through 40, 1.3 with the box on. Talk stock all over the country when skip comes in. Amp is for local fun LOL. Added some pics of my last two mobile setups. 2000 Grand Marquis, and the 2010 Jeep Liberty Renegade inside.

Your antenna may be hooked up to a metal fence but that's not really a RF ground.

Get four lengths of wire about 9ft long, attach them to each side of the mount and stake the other ends to the ground. See how that goes. You'll probably need to retune the antenna.
