Modified Vector 4000

Has anyone said what the V4k overall length is as shipped?

I've read of several different lengths experimented with, but missed seeing what the default length is. . .

I emailed Sirio recently and asked for all of the New Vector measurements including all tube diameters, as I wanted to model the antenna. They responded that they were on company holiday until further notice and that they were also going to be gone to make some Hamventions after holiday. They may be back by now, why don't you email them and ask?

Sounds fishy . . .

May be, but this is what they emailed me back.

Dear Sirs
The company is closed for summer holiday until Aug.29, 2010
Please contact us later, thank you

COMMENT = I wish to model both the older 7/8 wave model and the newer 3/4
wave model of the Vector 4000. Could you provide me with all tube
dimensions, including tubing diameter for both? Measurements in inches would
be desirable, but I can convert from CM if necessary.

I notice that the New Vector 4000 includes a cage device on top of the
Vector that is shown not to be included in the tuning instructions for L3.
Could I also have an approximation of that dimension as well?

Thank you in advance.

Eddie Romans

I suppose it's worth a try.
Summer holiday? Does that mean school kids are making them? What kind of company goes on summer vacation . . . ?

You don't know about the UK and their liberal work policies where the unions are breaking the bank, so-to-speak? They are reported to only work about 32 hours or less a week and I understand almost everyone is required to take a month or more of holiday, with pay of course. The ones that don't work get a holiday, among other things, that are paid for by the ones that do work. That way no one is left out of a nice holiday on the coast or in the mountains.

I guess the school kids follow the same schedule as mom and dad unless they are enrolled in some academy or private institution.

Many small companies in the US take holidays by closing, when they can't provided their service levels or production with reduced staff.

Sirio is an italian company Eddie.

you wouldn't want to be holidaying in most of the uk coast, especially up here in scotland, your American fleet of nuclear subs based at dunoon (holy loch) weren't known for their cleanliness,we now have 3 headed fish that glow, well thats the few that are left.

After years of misrule from England our liberal work policy has been replaced by mass unemployment and thousands of junkies. That c@w Margaret Thatcher that you guys over there love so much heaped so much sh!t on our socialist country that it will take centuries to undo.As for the unions, she decimated them during the miner's strike with her gestapo police force, they have never recovered. Now we have that f@cking idiot cameron who wrote her manifesto in power, things can only get worse, you guys don't know how lucky you are having obama,we just get f@cking english tory bampot's,nuggets and baw bag's.

look those words up on google, lol.typical glaswegian terms of endearment.

Hey CDX-007, why don't you build the new antenna to the 3/4 wl specs first, and then mess with the radiator and radial lengths a bit, extending it out to .84 or .875 wl and see if you can notice any difference by modifying as Bob85 and Shockwave suggest.

Compare it to your Penetrator first, and then modify the antenna to a 5/8 or .64 wavelength to prove your point.

What design are you considering for the .625 - .64 wavelength, conventional or like a Vector? I don't have a clue as to what measurements would do that.

OK, I think I will. I'll initially pattern it after the New Vector and see if it provides better performance up to Rich @ ~80 miles compared to my Penetrator 500.

Anyone know the New Vector radial Ring diameter / circumference?

Somewhere in one of these threads someone said it was 30" or so if my memory serves me correctly, but I notice that the Sigma model says 24". The one I'm experimenting with is 30".

Homer, that section talks about one 3/8" x 24" loop section (4 required). The loop is a little less than 96" inches circumference and 30" inches diameter with radials located inside the loop.

vector 4000

does anyone have the tubing schedule and antenna dimensions for the vector 4000? I would like to build one using larger tubing and materials. If someone could email me the file that would be great.
