Modified Washington with unstable clarifier

I'm back on this one today. The channel kit has been totally removed and the instability was still there. I have shortened 1 wire going to the clarifier by 1 inch and it seems like it is fixed. I still don't trust it.

Simple test. After squirting cleaner into the clarifier and rocking the knob end-to-end, what it does the next day is important. Tune in a steady carrier and lightly tap your fingertip on the end of the clarifier knob. If you get a response, that control has probably just deteriorated. If it holds steady, it's okay.

A fault that's mechanically sensitive to tapping anywhere in the radio can be a hair-puller to track down.
