Monkey Made don't like Watts

Concrete, how did you get that number? Maybe I'm doing something wrong, but I used 1500 watts average and assumed a perfect 50 ohm load. I calculated out the amperage by hand first and came up with about 5 amps. Then I found this nifty website and double checked my work:www.opamplabs.com/eirp.htm

Am I forgetting about something?

Concretemann, build that antenna for 11 meters with coils less than 1/8" apart and bring it to the next big keydown meet in Dallas and we will get some money together. Kale

OK I see where you're going. Yes, the current should decrease as the antenna gets higher. I'm not sure if it would be down at 1 amp at that point in the coil (depends on the height of the coil), but at any rate it's still not much current. The voltage is pretty high, though, so I could see it arcing if something got between the coils to act as a conducter between them.

Concrete, I know that you think I posted these pictures to run Monkey antennas down. I didn't post the pictures. 4040 did. When 51 told me what happened, he told me I should come over there and get some pictures of the antenna. I tell you this man was sick when this antenna arcked and smoked a very strong 8 pill amp. 4040 used to run Monkey antennas and I thought he might like to see the pictures. You have flat called me a liar.

I have been keeping in touch with 51 every day on all of this. If you think you are so right about this, 51 said if you want to discuss technical technology with him for you to send me your phone# and he will call you. He is very patient and understanding. You have called him a liar the same as me. If you will not do this, then I have nothing more to say to you. Kale

Concrete, the decal has been on the window for almost a year. I thought the antenna and the decal made a very good match. Give me your number and I will get him to call you. You can tell everyone else how it happened but I just don't think you are man enough to discuss this in private with the man you are calling a liar. A very popular person on this forum told me that you was nothing but a trouble maker and I can see why. Btw this is my truck, not 51's.

ORN, were not talking about any other antenna but the Monkey. 2020 that has posted on this forum told me after testing the 10K that at 22KW it jumped fire across from one coil to the other. I BELIEVE this. When I know someone is going to be running more watts and volts than normal, I use a longer insulator to stretch the coils out a little wider after he told me this. An old ham told me that RF does NOT travel well through flat surfaces and sharp edges. I can't believe that as much as you guys know about electronics that you can't see that what happened to this antenna stands to reason. This particular antenna has a poor design and is not fit for high watts and voltage. The antenna arced and if no one believes it, I really don't give a damn. Kale

Doc, I said the antenna tuned perfect. 51 is the man that beat out everyone at the last Dallas keydown and went on to first runner up with Ronny(13Virginia). What I mean by a strong 8 pill is an amplifier that was strong enough to do 1500 watts and more. He knew what he was doing when he was testing this antenna. The antenna did very well with a smaller amp. Then he keyed a little bit bigger amp but the antenna would not take the 8 pill amp at 1500. This particular antenna is a very popular antenna for truckers. Kale

AFRO DUDE, sidelines or no sidelines, I was called a liar early in this topic and I am not going for it. I am an honest and truthful person when it comes to my product. I know for a fact what happened and Concrete man does not.It doesn't make any difference what kind of an antenna it was, he didn't have any right to call me a liar. Kale

Doc, I agree that the formula doesn't show you what's going on inside the coil. However, if I recall correctly, even though the current tapers off throughout the antenna, when it reaches a coil it should stay fairly constant through the coil, then resume it's taper. On a poorly designed antenna, you can get stray capacitance from turn to turn, which increases circulating currents in the coil. Is that the direction you were thinking in?

All I know is that 51 told me the antenna tuned perfect. He tried low power at first but arced at 1500 Bird watts. It took 22KW for one of my antennas to arc but it arced. Kale

The MM antennas that are ran with AC amps are nothing like this trucker antenna. Kale

Concreteman, if 51 had a way of contacting you he would be glad to tell you all about what happened. You need to talk to the man who actually did this and not me. Maybe you can "teach" him how not to do this again. Kale

Hey bignastyafrodude, Get one of Kale's 10k's - they're easy to tune, light weight, built to take a lickin' and keep on tickin', nice lookin', and perform great! Ya' won't be sorry. He's got a new one with bigger coils and 6" shaft that is supposed to be awsome - it's supposed to tune short so ya' won't hit those low bridges...

CONCRETE, We can drop it allright but you or anyone else will never know the truth about what exactly happened until you talk to the one that did it. He told me what happened and I believe him. You are still calling him a liar for accusing him of crossing it across two terminals. Thats why I say you need to discuss this with him. I don't care to talk about this anymore.Kale
