More and more CB radios turning up at hamfeast.

price just went up

well, as a seller, i can tell ya (as a general rule) that most cb'ers will pay a lot more;)

I don't really have a problem with CB stuff being sold at hamfests. I just walk past them and keep looking.I think just about anything electronic related is fine but I really draw the line at quilts and home made mittens. :headbang

I have noticed that in the last few years a lot of CB radios are showing up at hamfeast.

Last few years? Heck, there have been "a lot" of CB radios at hamfests ever since I got my ticket back in the '70's. This is nothing new.

I like your Scripture quote from Matthew in your sig. May I make a kind suggestion? Please use your spell-check next time. You make hams and Christians appear to be not-so-intelligent. (Incidentally, some of the smartest people I've ever known cannot spell worth a hoot -- really.)

Naw bakc to owr regglar progamyng.

I have noticed that in the last few years a lot of CB radios are showing up at hamfeast. The people selling them are not hams for the most part, they are guanine CB'ers. There is nothing that says they cant sell there stuff. But it does bother me to some extent....

Dude.....with all that CB stuff present, I would think it helps to keep the rift raft from crowding the tables of "true communications equiptment" you're interested in.

We have 3 Radio Swap meets a month . Most are 3/5s computer stuff , 1/5 Ham stuff and "less" then 1/5 cb stuff . In other words , there is seldom any cb stuff .

It just seems degrading to see CB radios at hamfests. It was OK to see one or two at the most. But to see 8 to 10 on a single table and then see five or six tables with that many cb's makes me sad. I remember a lot of CB'ers from the 70's. A lot of them were trashy people. The ones who wanted more out of radio became hams.

So you are letting old memories and stereotypes cloud your judgment?

Shame on the CB user for trying to make a buck...

I liked 70's porn. I guess that makes me trashy.

Good thing Jesus didn't mind trashy people, I do believe he based his whole life on helping them. Guess Jesus wasn't a Ham though.

Better not cast that stone yet, your eyesight may make your aim a bit off target.

One bad thing about being a condescending Ham is that those trasy cbers you speak of know exactly who and where you are.

What about the Ham's that sell both?
I've seen a couple of them doing that at the last meet.
Where do they fit in?

One guy at the swap meet even had a couple of linears for CB's - nice ones too. One was a tube amp/300w and another was a solid-state 400w. The solid-state Palomar was $180 and the ? was $250.

No Hams out there gave him a bad time about it - either.

He also sold a Heathkit tube Ham radio that had the very first digital freq counter for $250. He sold it to a CB/Ham friend of mine.
How do you fill in the cracks?
