Diesel would have been 24-cents/gallon on sale just a year or so before.
28-cents with no discount.
Remember that today’s price would be from $2/gl to $4/gl to equal the shock. (Greater, actually, as in 1973 no one had GP credit cards past maybe Sears and the gas station card. No easy credit).
