MURS interference

Raveon sells MURS transmitters made for vehicles that can send, among other things, GPS tracking data to keep track of fleet vehicles. I imagine it would sound a lot like the dog trackers if used for just that purpose, but stronger.

Could a business in the area have these on their fleet vehicles?
They list a bunch of potential uses on their site
Anything is possible.

Never heard the Dog Collar thing around here but I scan MURS both base mobile full time just to see if I run across anybody talking on them to chat with. Biggest problem here is the damn Driveway Gate Alarms that using the freqs. either broadcasting Voice or DTMF Tones signals. They're everywhere. Besides them .... it's Walmart mgrs ..... always fun to mess with

We used to have a bunch of those driveway alarms around here going off. "Alert zone one" I haven't heard any in a long time though.

The local walmart used to run channel 4 and 5 and they would get so mad when anyone else used the channel. They really thought it was a private channel for their use only.

There was a local hardware store that did this with a bunch of baofeng programmable radios.
Groups of families run FRS/GMRS around here during tourist season and the interaction was comical at times.....

I can only imagine.

After getting yelled at by walmart for talking on "Their" channel we would mess with them from time to time. I once pretended to be someone lost in the back of the store that had found one the HTs and called for help. That had them going for awhile.

I have one of the "Alert Zone One" driveway alarms made by Dakota MURS. I think it is the only driveway alarm that can work a mile away, or at least it was when I was shopping. Mine is a motion detector in a bird house, but they do offer buried inductive sensors too. It can be set to any of the 5 murs channels, 10 ctcss tones and 5 "Alarm Zone #" settings. I have one neighbor that keeps calling it a camera no matter how many times I explain to him its not.

They definitely are running too much power. The ones around here goes for a couple of miles too. I'm in a mountainous area so if somebody has one up at elevation then they go many more miles

The owner of the store had the same ( this is our business frequency) attitude until one day some kids were goofing around on the radio, he got on and told the kids that he was going to call the sheriff and have there radios taken away and put them in jail for talking on his business channel.....
This did not sit well with the kids parents, it did not take long for them to find the store, they showed up and wanted to talk with the owner and have him explain who was going to jail his kids for talking on radios he bought and had a valid license to use.
It was very entertaining
