The RD16HHF1 final is very sensitive to static and other electrical disturbances. The tab on the mosfet is connected to the Source pin.
Any electrical interference that comes from your antenna, be it static charge, or some residual lightning will get into the final, since the final is bolted directly to the chassis.
What I have done, is take a mica insulator, and install it between the final and the chassis. This isolates the final from the chassis and reduces the risk of the final seeing any unusual electrical disturbances, voltages, or currents from the chassis.
Hope this helps!

I have all equipment grounded and antenna also. The olny thing I don't have is static protection. I should disconect my antenna switch when not in use.
Should I buy a surge or lightning arestor for in line on the coax like this.ALPHA-DELTA ATT3G50U-HP | 2KW TO 500MHZ SURGE PROTECTOR UHF CONNECTORS
That be the question.
