Need a base Recomendation legal base cb....

Need a legal 11 meter base reccomendation. It cant be peaked and stuff.I need a performer out of the box that if uncle sam comes knocking it wont result in a fine.

a base radio is just the guts of a mobile in a bigger box with a power supply built in and a different layout for the dials , switches and meter . unless someone is a real asshole on the air the fcc will never know you exist , just show a little consideration for your neighbors and you'll stay off their radar ;) .

a properly tuned radio wont cause problems with your neighbors either . but some antennas are known to typically cause bleeding issues , it seems the ones with full 1/4 wavelength ground elements seem to not bleed as much as ones that don't .

but it's your money so spend it how you want to :)

I cant do ground radials due to my situation. My antenna is on my chimney with a 5 foot mast.I live off a lake with heavy winds so im nervous about using a massive mast. This mast meets at the chimney peak so my tuning ring is just above the chimney.I doubt i will be able to do much else to the antenna anyway as my friend has had enough helping me.

The fact that only one CB base is being made these days is the reason most are buying 10 meter bases.

I had the 2547 with a 2018 echo mic. Most locals thought I was using something much bigger and more powerful. Sure wish I never sold it. :(

don't worry about getting cough. run whatever you want. the 2547 i dont think is even made anymore. you can still get them new. i have one that my cousin is using now. paired with quite a bit of modification to the receive side of the radio to make it work good, and a astatic knight eagle mic it works well.

If you have an antenna that has a ground plane on it already - like a Maco V-58; then 'ground radials' are unnecessary.

But make sure your equipment (radio, power supply, etc) is electrically grounded. Just the right thing to do too.

2547 NOT "LEGAL" !

they have the fcc id plate on the back .....

Galaxy DX 2547 AM/SSB CB Base Station Radio Photo Shoot

maybe the ones at RA were already peaked and had channels added when the FCC showed up ??????

Booty is right Six-Shooter. These radios are legal for CB so long as the haven't been modified illegally. Those other radios on that list are legal too; provided they are used on 10m and not 11m. They were cleared for use on the 10m band only by the FCC.

Sorry to bust your bubble but it is what it is, we have been over this before, there are several Galaxy Radios that have been FCC type accepted and are as legal as Ice cream....The "list"" that keeps getting passed around is not Valid.
FCC has admitted in court that the List that has circulated the internet is not valid.
If it has an FCC ID/ Type Acceptance plate on the back and long as it has not been modified you can bet you a$$ it is a Legal radio.

FCC Id : C2R-DX-2547
