Ok so I'm getting in my new power supply and antenna on Tuesday, but since my setup is anything but ordinary (thanks to my landlord) I really have alot of questions even after reading as much information as I could absorb on the internet. Let me first describe my situation:
- I live in an apartment where I will never have access to the roof, luckily I'm pretty high up but roof access is not an option. I've asked multiple times.
- I don't have a balcony but I do have a window, my windows are aluminum and won't ground anything, there is a air conditioner installed not sure what can be done with it though.
Ok now you more or less know my situation, here are some questions...
1) I ordered a no-ground antenna after realizing I would lose at least 15% power by using a NGP antenna, now ordering another would be fine but what can I use as a ground? Would a magnetic mount work if I put it on top of an air conditioner and are there any drawbacks by placing a cb antenna directly over an a/c?
2) Is there maybe a possibility that I can ground a regular mount antenna by plugging it into the ground hole of a wallsocket? Again what would be the drawbacks and is it possible to burn the house down or something catastrophic this way?
3) I can use a mobile cb antenna of up to 4 feet which mobile cb antenna would work best in my environment? I already have a firestik 4 feet NGP antenna on the way but I'd like to have the best reception transmission possible w/o hitting anyone with interference.
Thanks for reading!
