Thank you RabbiPorkChop, I just got my hands on an electret condenser element. Here's a do-it-yourself project that anybody can do for dirt cheap.
I just worked a few bugs out of it and it seems to work great. My next project will be the same thing with a switch on the back to bypass the internal high pass filter for switching between wideband audio and tailored response for dxing.Thank you RabbiPorkChop, I just got my hands on an electret condenser element.

The first half was with the high pass filter and you can totally tell when I switched over to the one without the high pass filter.Sounds pretty good, is that gate with the high pass? I was going to make a condenser mic for my 880 and power it from the radio. Wasn't sure if I wanted to do the Linkwitz mod or leave it as is
This is kind of low-tech, but makes really nice recordings.I would spend some time on youtube searching videos on processing vocals for recording or podcasting, wouldn't be a bad idea to learn a bit about processing in general.
Here is a prime example of one of those guys. ( not recorded in my personal vehicle hence the bad recording but that makes it funnier )Some guys shouldn't play with this stuff. A basic appliance and good desk mic would be the best thing for him.
