Neighbors pool pump adds 3 s units of noise

Good question, I’m not knowledgeable enough to know the answer.

But if there’s something I can do on my end,in my own propert to eliminate I’m more than willing to try it, before I go try and talk to them, I also might go and attend the next monthly local ham club meeting, I know I can get some good advice there, all the people there have been very friendly and willing to help people. I used to attend the local club meetings on a regular basis until I got a job that made it difficult to do.

Edit: after thinking about, I think that pump etc, or whatever it actually my be...is radiating rf through wires that are acting as antennas, but wouldn’t the filter need to be placed right on the pump to stop the rf from radiating through the wires, and then being picked up by my antennas.

Probably has to be solved at the pump, most likely interference is traveling back in power lines and into your house and others on the street.

I had a similar issue years back with a neighbor with a paper shredder sitting in standby mode, made using radio virtually impossible. Power company investigated, hired specialist with RF finder to find issue 4 houses away down the block, unfortunately not a damn thing they could do. Neighbor promised to leave it unplugged when not in use but of course a week later it started again. They moved out and problem went away, there was a long thread on here somewhere.

I even offered to buy a new machine for them. You may want to go that route and offer to pay for the fix, if it actually will fix it and is cheap, otherwise you have to get used to the noise. You could go the complaint route but I like to keep my neighbors on the good side.

Talked to neighbors today, they were very nice, they agreed to let an electrician install a filter. they showed me there pump setup and they do run it 24/7. So now that there on board with everything, what do I really need to fix it, just call an electrician and tell him I need a simple ac line filter, is this something that an electrician can provide or do I need to provide it. And the pump does have a bond wire going to a ground rod

Seems they might have been receiving some of that noise also. Just ran pump when needed.

Ground strap to ground rod, might be easy fix.

I asked them they said no. It is a variable two speed pump. They had it installed a few years ago, they want to run it 24/7 which is fine by me, because they are willing to let a professional install a filter between the controller and pump, basically there willing to do what ever to make the noise go away.

Either there has been RF issues before from others, or that electric meter has chalked up milage resulting from pump.

Had a aeration pump for septic, bad RF. Added ground, cut down some noise. Cut it off noise went away. My power bill dropped drastically. Only ran it manually couple times a month after.

I don't think they really want to run that thing 24/7.

Yeah but I I’m not sure if I can convince them not to run it 24/7 I asked them point blank if they run it 24/7 and they said yes, and I believe them cause the only times I’ve had peace and quite was when it was turned off

Edit: I fully realize the electricity savings from having it on a timer but what can you do.
Even oilfield oil pump jack electric motors don’t run 24/7 and are on timers.

Took me a hour to figure out where all my noise was coming from after setting up my station for the first time. Light ballasts, wall warts and cordless drill chargers were amongst the culprits. The chargers dont have to be charging to make noise, just plugged in.
I remember my upstairs neighbor 501 Redbone getting letters from the fcc about his radio bleeding the neighbors 30 year old tv. Well, it was more about the foul language than anything else imo. Needless to say we did all we could but ol Redbone kept running splatter boxes and finally made the guy sell his house and move. I dealt with him by jamming his rx as I lived directly below him. He also had a habit of going in his bathroom to talk on the phone and make radio/amp deals, a cordless phone. One day a friend of mine stopped buy with his new 900mhz scanner and while scanning I picked up one of redbones phone calls. I quickly asked to borrow the scanner and for the next 3 weeks I beat ol redbone out of several radio deals he thought he had in the bag and no one else knew about. I never did tell him how I did that.
