New Coax

Impressive. I was planning on doing the same thing above a Mosley TA-33 Yagi, but leaving more space about 3 feet.

I was asking you because when I saw your pics, I dare to say it has no more than 1 foot apart from each other and I thought they could affect each other’s performance.

By the way, can you tell me what are the frequencies from 2.0 down and 2.0 up ?

Thanks for responding.
oh.. other frequencies i have no interest in using the Beam on. I am still in the process of dialing the tune down for the Bowl CH6 and Ch22 which is my home channel. That beam is very narrow banded. I use the Vector ground plane to talk on the other upper channels.

Are you talking about the Vector ? Those are the frequencies I am interested in, the Vector ones

Hi Drifter. Since you have your antennas down, how close do you have the Vector 4000 from the yagi boom ?

According with the picture, it looks no more than 1 feet . Do you have any interaction between them, How is the SWR on your Vector ? Do you have any SWR readings for me to see ? How is the bandwidth?

I am asking because I am tuning a Vector 4000 on a 10 feet pipe away from any antennas . I am planning to install it in top of a Mosley Yagi with a clearance of 3-4 feet.

Here are some reading with an antenna analizer with a short RG- 8x jumper ( about 2 feet )

SWR= 1.2 on 27,035. R= 42, X= 8

Same jumper with line isolator

SWR= 1.0 on 27,065. R=54, X = 0

Line isolator shifted frequency up by 3 channels. SWR went down and R and C tell me that it is perfectly ( or at least very close ) to resonance.

Is it a good idea to use the line isolator just to make sure everything will work fine once up in the tower ?

Since I have low SWR at low height ( 10 feet, no grounding ) , what should I expect when I put this Vector 4000 up in the tower, ( about 35 feet high ), SWR will remain the same, will go up , ?

Can I have a picture of the mounting plate system you used to fix your Vector 4000 to the pipe. The u bolts that Sirio uses suck.

I used these. very sturdy

If you see someone get out of an expensive sports car in a parking lot do recommend a better automobile, lecture them about buying frivolous things and speeding? If you don't see the connection here please disregard. :whistle:

Hmmm maybe I would... It is a forum and we are allowed to say what you want. If someone wants to run expensive coax because of high power use that's fine, I was merely stating that I found it odd as someone who has been involved in radio for nearly 50 years. 73 to the OP and good luck with your installation.

I couldn't agree more. People leave comments about comments and others comment on their comments. That's how it should be.

Yeah I know this is an old thread about coax but, I went on DX Engineering and priced 30 ft of RG-400
and it blew me away. It looks great, the specs are great but, the price backed me away. I'll stick with my LMR-240UF.
