New Cobra 29, first type certified "Smart CB".

And jet.com has the 980 for $108.99 with free shipping. Not bad price at all for a brand new cb/SSB radio!! Especially one that is dead on frequency out of the box and are rock solid on SSB. No drifting with this radio!! Just some more info. Check Amazon as well. Good luck.

If you want a Bearcat 980, Pilot/Flying J travel centers should have them on sale for about $80. I picked one up, recently. I have a rewards card with them, and have been hoarding points for a couple of years, so I used my points to get it. Can't complain about a free CB!

Damn. If they are on sale for $80, that is a heck of a deal for a radio that has SSB. Thx for the info Sarasota Slim!!

Hey, no problem.

As a general rule, travel centers aren't the best place to pick up such things, however, they always have something on sale, and if you live near one, it's worth popping in once a month or so, just to see if they have a deal going on a radio, or antennas.

Actually, I have been eyeing the 980 for 3 or 4 years. The Pilot/Flying J chain has had them on sale a few times, in that time.

And, when I redeemed points for the radio, I also picked up a SiriusXM satellite radio receiver, at the same time, which was also on sale, PLUS had a $70 rebate going on. I still have points left, too, lol. That was a good day.

My guess is that the chain has these deals going on to purge old inventory. Their inventory, incidentally, is handled by DAS Companies, Inc., which owns Wilson, K40, Astatic, Francis, and a few other radio related things.
