I love this thread,asking on a ham forum if its ok to pirate the ham bands with an iffy callsign,a bit like asking the bank manager for tips on robbing banks,absolutely priceless.

Noob 87,if your going to pirate mate,I suggest you do a fair amount of reading first.

Mole no disrespect but from what I've heard there's a fair few hams ain't got much off a clue about operating procedural practice either,I'm sure he'll blend in nicely on 2m.

I'm drowning in my own tears of laughter here.

I study and took the test and it's easy with a couple of weeks of studyin and take the test. Even tho i have VX-8R I am not going to transmit till my call pops up on the database. You can take practice tests on line at either www.eham.net or www.qrz.com. The actual test must be taken in person, but they are the same questions and answers. Cost for the actual test will be $10-$15.

Very well put, and if you fail many time they will help explain what you don't understand and have an alternative test you can take the same day for free.

I once had a bank manager explain how I could rob his bank and get away with it. I have to say it gave me the creeps.

I'd say that was more an invitation than an explanation,think I'd have taken him up on it too.

I considered following his instructions, but figured if I wanted to steal large sums of money, I need to park in employee area. I mean just look at AIG. :blink:



No seriously, a little thing called ethics has kept me poor, but at least I don't have to stay at the gray bar motel. I have to assume that the bank manager knew what I did for a living and was telling me because he "needed" to tell someone, but it still gave me the creeps because of the way he did it.
