New Icom IC-7300 Approved

Just got one of these, these are killer radios. Don't go by the youtube vids, half the idiots on youtube that have a 7300 don't even know how to tune in an SSB signal correctly. It's easy radio to use, stable, and built well. It's too bad the 7610 is a dog compared to this thing (much lower build quality on the 7610, loose knobs, and still some QC issues with that, sad, too because that radio also otherwise has a lot of promise... ).

One thing I'm noticing on this radio... stupidly good ears. With preamp on even some of the weaker signals will come in while I'm driving around and sound like they're not far away, etc. Unless I get lucky and the other guy has a low noise floor at his station, I end up in a situation where I can reliably hear somewhat further than I can
talk. Problem is as a trend vs 15 yrs ago or whenever it was when I had a serious mobile, many fixed/base stations seem to be facing a dramatically increased local noise challenges in terms of RFI generating devices in ones neighborhood...

Put mine back in its box. Using my 991A. I like it better.

Any specific reasons?

My current problem with yaesu gear is I sit in front of it for 5 minutes and am basically totally lost, I'd have to spend some serious time figuring stuff out.

That 991 though is one of the few radios that they have, from the outset, that I don't completely hate.

To me, it's got a better receiver. Once you learn on a Yaesu, the menu system becomes intuitive. I also control my via HRD, so it's not so bad to access menu stuff.
