Sold the FT990 and picked up a mint FT950, SP2000, Astron VS-35M and other gear. Really liking the FT950. Also made a homebrew 6m Moxon and threw that up on the tower.

Looking forward to spending cold winter days inside the shack.

Wow Max...you've come a long way with your station since we traded radios back in the early 2000's. Way too neat and clean ;)

I miss my 950. Is that Yaesu FL-2100 you've been working on?

That's the one. Just need to give the case a new coat of paint.

Very, very, nice... killer setup! Just curious how you did the lighted meters on the 2100? I have a clean one sitting in my attic that I need to drag out. :)

Hi Brett,

Thanks,

I used 12V LED strip lighting from eBay, 3 in each meter. They mount on the inside of the meter covers, and fed thru the meter housing to the inside. I mounted a small 12V adapter inside to power them. Check out the Fox Tango Yahoo group for details.

I need to get the 250Hz filter for the Field. I do a lot of RTTY work and really noticed it this past weekend during the ARRL Roundup contest. The 950 had DSP filtering that would go down to 100Hz bandwidth. I have to say, without the optional filters in the 1000, the 950 is a much better performer for digital modes.

Recently swapped the FT-950 for an FT-1000 Mark V Field. What an amazing radio!

I've always heard good things about the Mark V's. Just curious... is that real tile on your desktop, or the linoleum that looks like tile? Either way, it looks great.

Also, do you have the plans for your home brew 6 meter Moxon?

Hi Brett,

I don't have the Mark V Field anymore. I sold it and picked up another TS-2000, big mistake. I traded the Kenwood for a Yaesu FT-2000.

The desk top is linoleum self stick tiles I picked up 3/$1.75 at the local dollar store. It really dresses up the desk.

You can get dimensions for the moxon here:

Hi guys,

Been a few years since I've posted on the board. Lots of radios gone through, and I'm now back to the old trusty Kenwood TS850S. It's probably my 5th or 6th I've owned over the years. I replaced all the failure prone caps, and put LED's in the display. Loaded it up with CW filters and it plays very well. Just something about Kenwood audio! nothing on the tower new to speak of, the beam and sloper just keep on working. I've put out a LED backlight kit for all you 746/746PRO and 756PRO owners to solve the problem with low or no backlight. Details are on my QRZ page www.qrz.com/db/ve3tmt.
