Pictures of my New Sears Slant Face Radio $30?

I am going to go look at a new (or so he says) sears slant
face radio that is still in the box. The boy who has these says these were his grand dads and he isn't into CB's. He wants $30 dollars so I assume this radio is worth $30?

He has a like new Pearce Simpson Pussycat and Pearce Simpson Super Lynx whatever these are...

Thanks

I can't tell if that's a sideband rig from the pic. If it is, and 40 channels, then yeah, I'd pay 30 bucks for it. Would be nice to know the model number to figure out if it's a Uniden chassis, or Cybernet, or whatever.

The Pearce Simpsons are both 23 channel bases... the Pussycat is bare bones, the Super Lynx more of a deluxe model. Depends what you're into. I'm not into 23 channel AM anything.

Well I drove to Daytonnso I could look at and maybe buy the Slant Face Sears CB. Why...for $30 you would to. It turned out to be a Sears RoadTalker 40, AM-LSB-USB radio. No box but ... it came with the Mic and Power Cord. I don't know if this radio is new but I would call it mint. Sooooo.....I shelled out three $10 bills and bought the radio. Now I will need to learn more about this radio.

Now when I get time I will hook it up. (y)

Excellent radio!. One of my favorites. I have one that is new in the box. Pretty easy to modify. One problem is that the receive is so sensitive that they get front end overload pretty easily. GREAT BUY!

I have the clarifier unlock and channel mods for that radio. Just did one up the other day that was every bit as nice as the one you purchased. Good stuff! (y)

~Cheers~

Old Sears base moble radios

I know this is an old post but I'm new to the site and own three of these radios. They're around thirty years old but they still work great. My first ever skip contact was with one these. I was listening to channel 16 lsb to a couple of guys talking. I keyed up with "Comment" as was the custom to get into a conversation back then, said my piece and then went to stand by. A little more conversation and we were all amazed that we were so far apart. I was in San Antonio, TX and they were in Tuscaloosa, AL. Good ears and transmit through a 5/8 wave from radio shack over a tin roof farm house.

I buy the old SSB classics as finances permit.

Ok radio. Worked on many of these over the years. Nice filters in the front end.. the balanced modulator arrangement for SSB is a nice complimentary as well.

Good find, $30 is a good deal if it works, and not too bad if its a project.
I wonder if turning up ALC will do it any good?
