I was wanting to see what Simon thought about it first. It kinda looks a little 980ish to me. It looks appealing.

I was a tad demoralized by the Anytone, CRE crap that polluted my shack. I'm starting to feel better now.

I'd buy this Uniden built radio before the Qixiang Lincoln II.

Is this not a rebadged Uniden 980?
I can't see much difference.
If it performs as poorly as the 980 it won't get a place on my bench...

I bought a new PC 787. It came this afternoon. I like the looks, gets favorable audio with stock microphone. Decent little rig for what it is. I like the weather channels.

My superstar pistol grip microphone livens it up.

You gonna open it up and let us see what's under the hood?

Didn't like the looks at first on the PC-787 but now it's looking better. How do you like the location of all the control knobs?. I like the back lighting. The new Pres. Grant may be the up graded 980 ssb Is there a place that will sell the President line of radios in the USA?

He tends to tune every thing a little hot, but that is what the majority of 11M ops want. If he doesn't do it for them, they'll take their business somewhere that will ....

Biggest bummer so far...

It's hard to change channels. The knob is in the center of the radio between the mic plug and the mic gain control. Your knuckles hit the plug and mic pot.

It needs a round knurled channel knob. I'm going to try and source a better knob.

Not ergonomic at all.

The 505 I bought from DTB and had him tune walks the dog in the 30ish PEP range with a Road Devil mic although the back of the radio gets fairly warm on extended conversations. In the hands of a good tech that knows how to set up a radio to perform is a value to me.

I was on Bells CB website and saw 2 new radios from uniden, Larger meter,Weather, compatble with wireless Mic. Lighted face plate? Don't know how long these have been on the market or what gap they are trying to fill. why dont they build a 40 ch base a little more modern like the 980SSB

I like these old school looking radios with the nice big meters. Seems like the only difference I can tell between the two models is the swr calibrate on the higher end one.

Wish they had SSB mode though, that would be a complete package for me to buy with the weather band on them.
