" The FCC also proposes these fees for license renewals and requests for vanity call signs, the latter which had its filing fee eliminated several years ago. The FCC is proposing to still not charge for administrative updates, such as mailing address changes on amateur or GMRS applications. Amateur Radio will remain exempt from annual regulatory fees under Section 9 of the RAY BAUM’S Act."

FCC BUDGET FOR FISCAL YEAR 2013 Washington, D.C. -- The President has submitted a budget to Congress that proposes fiscal year 2013 funding for the Federal Communications Commission of $346.78 million.

For FY 2019, the Commission is requesting the budget and personnel amounts that are summarized in the bullets and table below: • The Commission requests $333,118,000 in budget authority from regulatory fee offsetting collections. This request represents a decrease of $21,170,568 or 6.0 percent from the FY 2018 annualized continuing appropriation level of $354,288,568. This difference includes a net decrease adjustment to the base of $12,635,568 and one-time requests of $8,535,000.

For FY 2021, the Commission is requesting the budget and personnel amounts that are summarized in the bullets and a table below: • The Commission requests $343,070,000 in budget authority from regulatory fee offsetting collections. This request represents an increase of $4,070,000 or 1.2 percent from the FY 2020 appropriated level of $339,000,000

Interesting... these budget cuts...getting less money in 2021 than they did in 2013!
So jack up the fee's to offset the loss in budget.

Proceeding(s): 20-270 : Amendment of the Schedule of Application Fees Set Forth in Sections 1.1102 through 1.1109 of the Commission's Rules

Filer(s):

Brief Comments:
Whereas, the ULS (Universal Licensing System) is used for both Commercial and Amatuer Radio Services, Specifically HAM Radio Operators,
and as the cost of maintaining the ULS is relatively fixed and incurs no significant additional burden placed on the system by Amatuer Radio Operators,
and as Individual Amatuer Radio Operators are by definition “Small Entities”,
and as Amatuer Radio Operators provide a significant public service in times of National and Local Emergencies,
and as Amatuer Radio License testing is conducted by Volunteer Examiners at NO COST to the FCC,
and as Amatuer Radio has a long history of self regulation and policing that occurs at NO COST to the FCC,
I propose that the suggested License Fees of $50 per license and any modification are Excessive and Burdensome to the individual operators and also negatively impacts the community by weakening an essential resource with a long history of Public Service.
As the RAY BAUM act mandates a fee be established for all licenses,
I propose the Fee for all New Amatuer Radio Licenses be set at $10, and fees for Upgrades and Modifications be set at $5.
I feel that these fees will be far less burdensome to the Amatuer Radio Community, and still be sufficient to offset any minor costs that Ham Radio Operators have upon the FCC.

GARY

$70.00 FOR A LICENSE IN THE MOST USELESS RADIO BAND IN THE SERVICE.
Fitting.

My concealed deadly weapons license has gone up considerably as well.

It's getting to the point where you can't afford to shoot your mouth off!

I must renew my CWP next March & it's only $50 & that's a deal.I never leave home without at least one pistol & sometime two.So many Fools looking for an Early exit these days & if they try me they may get their ticket punched.I go by SIX-SHOOTER but that 1st magazine holds 15 Plus 1 & the backups each have 12. {:>)

I still say the fcc is as worthless as Nasa. Their the reason why I have to listen to beepers on all the reality shows that I watch. STOP BEEPING IT AND LET THEM TALK! They should invent a tv that lets me change the settings to hear the beeper or fowl language.

To pay the private contractor who handles the electronic transaction.

Who offers jobs to bureaucrats, legislators and staff on the private side to do what they did on the government side at a far higher salary.

Should be seven years Federal-minimum felony offense for all involved.

If they enact the $50.00 renewed fee, I will only have to pay this twice before I go SK. I can deal with that lol! I also don't expect tax payers to pay for my free renewed license as of present. Somebody is sitting behind some desk at the FCC doing data entry to get those licences out in the mail, changing call signs, and whatnot.
