Been running a radio in my company vehicles for 25 years now in the mid west. RCI 2950's, Magnum Delta, 257, Omegaforce, and a 2510. Any time it gets around zero I always warm the car up before I ever turn the radio on. They all work fine that way.
growing up as kid never knew why cabbies used to take there radios with them to there houses besdies getting robbed now i know why .President Mckinley does same at less than 10'F here in PA.. I just found out..
I now let car warm up and then turn on radio.. No problems on RX but the TX kinda locks out abit. Once warm all is back to normal
Wait until it's -40. At that exact temperature, Fahrenheit and Celsius are the same - no need to specify -40F or -40C.I have never had a radio fail in the cold, but I have had the knobs so hard to turn that I almost needed pliers. I'll have to leave something in the truck Sunday night to test, supposed to be -30 F
