For future reference, 13.8v (power supply voltage) can be found on the back of your on/off volume control. One terminal is always 13.8v regardless of the switch position. The other terminal is 13.8v on or off depending on the switch position. That module was meant for 13.8 volts, although they will work with less. No dropping resistor was required.
I think some sounds are ok but there are a few locals that have one that I can't stand. On key up they have a horrible feed back squeal. I told one of them that it sounded like a mic problem. He informed me that it was supposed to sound like that.
