I don't know where to put this so that it can be seen, and maybe others out there might want to add some sort of comment to the idea that I have.

I see either a new forum, or perhaps a sticky.... something very accessible listing out CB shops/technicians.

4 different directories broken down by region. NE, SE, Mid west, and West.

People would be able to post to this with recommendations and or experiences. Then if a person in interested in follow up, google it.

I am sorry if this is going into the wrong forum, but I just hope this post hits the right eyes.

Just google search "best cb shop" or something similar, there are already web sites that do this and say this ones better than that one. Some will give addresses, phone no. web sites etc.

Because it would be nothing more than opinion based,
just a list by areas could be helpful.

CB SHOP CHOP SHOP would be a good start. At the end of the day even the best techs have off days being human, so its all down to perception and preference and in both as my buddy Bob 85 has often quoted bullshit is 5 cents a gallon.

The best way of all is to learn to do it yourself and if your not a 100% sure ask those who so obviously and consistantly stand out from the crowd.

Which brings me nicely to Jeff Audioshockwave. That LINCOLN I asked your opinion on is running sweet as a nut Jeff. Despite not being able to access the forum to read back your Pm bud I recalled most of your advice and as I'm very familiar with pll and rf circuits and suspected the fault didn't lie there.

So as I was out of radio during the period the microprocessor took over pll duties I decided to take your advice about the voltage regulator causing all sorts of weird problems as its easier to lift than the final caps or replacing electrolytics. Honestly being a lazy shit wasn't a factor :p lol.

You were bang on mate. Was sorted in less than a minute by lifting it. Thank you so much mate. My mate is a happy bunny and my earache has eased off. llf

He's been nagging me for weeks about it, lol
But its running like a dream now. I told him next time your in Scotland he owes you a nice cool beer :)

On the sign in matter Iresolved that too by insisting the phone provider gave me a newish android s3 mini or send a tech to remove broadband, phone, 2tivo boxes, sky movies on demand and one shite nokia that even osama bin stealing couldn't upload jihad on as it was more antiquated than a fucking dodo in my most civil Glaswegian so that is sorted too :)

Tbh i actually told him if you don't fucking change it I'm going to bounce the whole fucking lot off your techs head to which he replied I'll talk to my boss and I politely replied aye fucking do that.

Amyway I'm a happy bunny, got good friends, a smart customer service rep and my mate is eternally grateful.

Thanks Jeff :) Top Man ;)

Who needs techs when you have WWRF ? ;)

Best 73 Jazz :)

The Idea of regions would be to let others out there know who is out there.

In Atlanta, I have struggled to find 1 shop in my area. And yes it would be subjective... but isn't that the same feeling that we all have when we bring our most prised and precious radios to a shop?

And yes, I have searched, but There are all sorts of techs out there that so either decent, good or horrible service. Should we call them out on it?

Put your feet into another's shoes. Besides Frys, or other big box stores, who would you recommend?

The Ultimate goal, by reagon, is that we have a platform where we can list and discuss those shops out there.

Just start a new thread and title it as you wish, but do remember that you are going to get opinions that rank from "best shop on earth" to "I would not send my dead dog to that guy to get worked on"
In the end, you sends your radio and see what you get for yourself, is the final judgment call.
As has already been said, even the best shop in the world can have a bad day and a dissatisfied customer.
I used to deal with, what I considered to be the best shop on the west coast, in part run by one of the Best Radio Tech`s in the business, Bill Good.
And even at that, they at times had a bad day, no one is perfect.
