So here's a working substitute for a part that has become "unobtainium" recently.

Every Uniden SSB CB made after 1979 has the VCO circuit contained inside a 10-pin module, a flat "plate" surface-mount circuit dipped in epoxy. The original Uniden part number is "UHIC070".

This is a part that literally never goes bad. I can see why Uniden's engineers went for this setup. Far, far fewer VCO failures occur in this kind of radio compared to the way RCI builds that circuit on the main circuit board in their radios.

For a part that "never goes bad" there are still hazards. In particular the brown contact cement used to stabilize the part will eventually become corrosive. Rotted away two of the ten pins on this one in an old Cobra 2000.

Okay, I suppose you could scrape away some of the epoxy and solder wire "crutches" to take the place of the missing pins.

Feel free.

Found a better solution. Finally, a practical use for a Sound Tracker 148GTL.

Organ donor.

The VCO 'plate' in those turns out to be compatible. It's marked "NVCO-035".

Now that even Barkett Electronics is out of stock for the original parts, a Sound Tracker 148 may finally prove to be worth something.

Prime example in a japan 29 xlr. Looks like wax went down first then the glue which would be good news i would think.
Looks like glue on top of wax.
