Yes, the fiberglass strapping tape had to be cut to open the outer carton.
The inner carton was reinforced the same way.
And there was no empty rattle space. The inner carton is stuffed tightly. Like it should be.
So here's the actual content of the package. Not only drop-kick proof, but waterproof to boot!
And it works! Turns out to be the correct voltage for this RF deck. And here's part of the reason this model has a reputation for being meaner than six tubes should get. The heaters are being jazzed beyond the 12.6 Volt rating. Leads me to suspect the designer was expecting to use 8950 tubes. Their heater rating is 13 Volts, not 12.6.
Was cheaper than building my own.
