Thanks!
But my Yaesu FT-840 does not sound as good as the Uniden.
(In AM of course) :P

And probably... in SSB too!

That was the problem with the low audio on those Yeasu 840's-- low IF bandwidth stock-- I think it had only 6 kc's--- even a D104 didn't really liven those up

That is the reason for which I am selling it.

The bigger distance that I talk with this radio without amplifier was Italy.
7000 miles from Costa Rica to Italy!!
And with a ground plane antenna!!
That was the last year in 27.555 mhz (USB).

thast condx had nothing to do with radio or antenna LOL
but i knowits fun to think its your set up ..... heh

FL Dude ? ..Talk about slicing ones tires why don't you !! )-: but I know what your saying to a degree , I've been around cb for a while now , and I can't count how many times I got behind somebody else's radio and talked all over the world with there rigs were they swore up and down that there radios just were no good at all , even then I think they figure I just got lucky ??? Hmmmm ??? and sure enough they would some time or another just go out and buy new ones .....go figure when they had good ones to begin with ? Guys tend not to think there getting out for crap even though a dozen folks have told them differently ......I'd have to say ,over the years ,i've heard more good radios then bad ones .I'd guess to say 85% good maybe 15% bad in my ear holes. I will not deny that good antenna's in the sky with good SWR's on them and just a hint of power (will say about 100 watts pep) power is always and always will be a plus in DX Land , some folks are very hard to please ,sometimes nothing is good enough for them )-: and this doesn't only apply to Christmas Cb'ers either !!! guys who have been around a long time for that matter. Nowadays when I hear top notch talking stations out there they will more then likely get some good numbers from me ,this can be hard for newbies )-: radio check after radio after radio check .....Bad ASS kick'in stations but they just won't believe it !!!! So now a days I just say believe in your station and radio because it's truly kick'in some butt !! Back in 90 to about 92 I ran a PC-122 with 200 watts pep on the side off my W-1000 roof mount with my trusty 575M 6 , as far as I was concerned ,there was nothing better at the time !! (even though I was truly wrong,I just didn't know any better at the time) with my 15KHz slider with my fancy verner dial (cool huh (-: ) I talked all over the world with my little N Kit installed !! This is truly when SSB meant the most to me.Many Radios have changed along with amplifers since then , but I'll never ever forget that talk'in PC-122 of mine. I really thought I was Bob Bitch'in back then !! (-: Can you guess what my amp was ?HL 150 converted same as Marko 200 (carried 2 x 454s) pic was taken 8-5-91 ....check out my fan job on the box ,I just stick them on the heat sink nowadays. And big Props to Joe Motzel (The Tech) of old J&S CB Radios and Guns (San Gabriel ,So.Cal.

S.K...nice set up. I just recently sold my last 575, looks like you had everything in good order. I did notice that if you ran that little 122 with a higher carrier they tend to run a little hot.
The little bit more that your going to get out of it isnt worth the stress on it if your going to run and amp on it anyway.
S.K can give you good advice and no smoke and mirrors....

Yeah !!! that IC 5 or 4 I think it was ? (Audio chip) you could burn your finger on that baby !!!! back in the day ,Uniden had a lot of refurbs of the PC-122s , you could get a refurbed new one for about 80 dollars back in the early 90's !! now that I think about ,mine was a refurb.I once tried to put a small fan in the speakers place but I could here it in the receive so I just left well enough alone. Reminds me about that amp as well (-: I could order my food at drive throughs on that thing ,along with opening garage doors and setting off car alarms left and right. )-:

putting the modulation into the driver sure helped the heat ALOT-- I can run a high DK without problem now that I did that and added a small heatsink
Adding another small heatsink behind the audio ic made a huge difference-- especially when I was running the compressor-- that thing would get right hot

Best thing that helped that radio with heat was that npc mod and changing where the mod gets added in-- there was no way I could run a decent carrier on that thing before-- it made a big difference heat wise on mine
They should have made the back of that radio out of thicker aluminum at least-- its a hot running radio

a tech called Handy Andy had awsome mods for that radio-- I have some info on npc/volt mod for that chassis
PM me if you want it-- I tried to get ahold of Andy to get some of this stuff but I can't find him anywhere

PM me and I'll shoot you over the mods I have
