i wonder why there are so many machinist making CB antennas ..... but very very very few antenna designers making them or working with a machinist to produce them . fortunately its not difficult to make something work on the chicken band . but those stargun beams just scream WTF

id put money on homerbb's homebrew mobiles out performing most of the stargun stuff .

Well Ok, This Is how you set the SWR:

STARGUNTM

Due to the modular design the STARGUN offers many models,
choose the exact parts to assemble the model you desire.

Before installing STARGUN make sure current system is ok.

Install STARGUN and re-evaluate. A noticeable increase of 3db
should be on "S" meter.

Check swr/reflect, if high, raise stinger, if reading increases then
lower stinger, cut increments of 1" to lower meter. Turn calibrate
knob on meter fully clockwise and continue with up/down stinger.

Swr and reflection are two different parameters. You must decide
which one you are dealing with before cutting too much stinger
and later realize you was only tricking your meter and learn you
went the wrong way.

While setting the system look for a dip on the meter, it the reading
is still high, then you are dealing with reflection. Make sure coil
and other objects do not work against each other. Think of a
periscope coming up from underneath the water to see down range.

In order to locate a high reflect, for swr only means setting the
antenna to the operating frequency, start with cable, high quality
and rated for your need, make sure the center hole on mount is huge
(larger the better). How close will you put your finger to say 1 kv.

Cable lengths are not supposed to be considered when setting
system, however I know you have to use at least 1'and to be fair
with the formula it would be wise to consider when needing longer
runs.

After all is well, check performance, enough said! Gain multifactors
f/r ratio, rf power generated, bandwidth, in the STARGUN are "the
industry standard".

While setting the system look for a dip on the meter, it the reading
is still high, then you are dealing with reflection. Make sure coil
and other objects do not work against each other. Think of a
periscope coming up from underneath the water to see down range.

delrin and teflon are not matching materials , they are insulators . what is hotrod ?

High band width means low gain. High gain means low bandwidth. Can't have it both ways.

I would bet that it is a quiet antenna because it has high bandwidth and low gain. Just like a dummy load....
