It was a hard choice, I really had to think.

The chicken wire one was tempting, but I'd have to buy something.

Yep. If you don't have chicken wire you could wrap a joint of pipe with aluminum foil, or a mish-mash of wire, chain link, etc.

I'll likely set it up on my metal 8 x 10 shed for GP and run it to see how it does.
 
Well you know, I'd think the chicken wire would be pretty broadbanded since the effective diameter of the radiator is a couple of inches!

Even a wire ground plane can cover a lot of ground in that part of the spectrum.

I guess I'll have to get it out from behind the shed and check the bandwidth. And the wire is wrapped around a 4" PVC pipe.
 
tough choice . i love chicken and my toilet been the final resting place for many of them . but i enjoy a few beers once in a while too . in the end .....

Yes my bodged together wire gp had 2 megs of bandwidth comfortable @ 1.5 either end.(y)
 
the beer can antenna has kept the lead the whole time , and deservedly so ;)
